Application Development

We excel at creating applications that require subject matter expertise in transportation. Whether your agency needs a web-based or mobile application, a systems-heavy backend with data integrations or a sleek front-end interface, we can work with you to design, build and implement applications that meet your business needs while addressing your complex business rules.

Our experience spans from simple deployments to customized applications with high data volumes and scalable and highly-instrumented hosting set ups that integrate with disparate data sources and expose Application Programming Interfaces in support of 3rd party apps.

We work in many programing languages and cloud services, and can work in your agency’s preferred technology stacks. Most of our work is conducted using Java, Python, Ruby on Rails, CSS3, JavaScript, JQuery, Ruby and HTML5.

As your partner, we’ll tailor a support package that makes sense for your operations. Whether that means providing 24/7 around-the-clock support with our engineers on call or basic maintenance and support services, we are invested in helping you deploy easy-to-use, dependable, user-focused applications.

Grant Application Support

From grant application through technology deployment, we can help every step of the way.

For multiple clients, CS Software has supported the conception and preparation of winning grant applications under a number of FTA grant programs, including: Mobility on Demand Sandbox, Access and Mobility Partnership / Innovative Coordinated Access and Mobility (ICAM / formerly Rides to Wellness), and the Veterans Transportation and Community Living Initiative (VTCLI).

This includes partnering with transit agencies, metropolitan planning organizations, and state departments of transportation to submit successful proposals for projects including multimodal trip planning innovations for the transportation disadvantaged, the creation and deployment of a new data standard to express demand responsive transit service in trip planning, and a joint process/technology solution to replace paper-based transportation voucher systems for paratransit and human services transportation.

Our approach considers technology as one element of a holistic approach to addressing challenges in mobility and related transportation practices. Projects should produce achievable, sustainable outcomes and yield insights that promote iterative innovation that agency peers can adopt.

Systems Design and Technology Strategy

Before your team starts building an application or puts the work out for bid, get a full picture of how your solution will work and the transportation requirements it must meet.

As objective strategists, our team will coach you through planning and development. We help you prioritize required functionality and distill it into requirements, build application wireframes that support those requirements, and package these elements so that when your team or a hired firm begins building they have the exact specifications at their fingertips. For more complex systems, we can also develop comprehensive concepts of operations (CONOPS).
